Prepaid vs Postpaid Plans

Quick answer

All amaysim plans come with the option of being Prepaid or Postpaid. There are no lock in contracts and you pay the same great rates with either option, however with Prepaid you pay for your service upfront, whilst Postpaid customers will receive an invoice each month based on your usage.

What is the difference between Postpaid and Prepaid?

All amaysim mobile and data-only plans come with the option of being Prepaid or Postpaid and you'll be asked to choose your payment option during the signup process.

There are no lock-in contracts and you pay the same great rates whichever option you choose, however with Prepaid you pay for your service upfront, whilst Postpaid customers will receive an invoice each month based on your usage.

Prepaid plans

With Prepaid, you'll need to pay for your plan upfront and the process to pay/recharge your mobile or data-only plan can remain a seamless process if you link a payment method to your account, as this allows your plan to automatically recharge at the end of each plan period.

You'll also have the ability to pay for your service using recharge vouchers and these are available in thousands of stores around Australia including Coles, Woolworths, Australia Post, 7-Eleven and more.

Although paying for your plan using vouchers is fairly straightforward, the hassle-free way to recharge your service is to link a payment method to your account so your plan can recharge automatically.

Postpaid Plans

With Postpaid, you’ll receive an invoice each month based on the recent usage on your account and this usage can include plan renewal charges, or any usage that has fallen outside of your plans inclusion list.

Postpaid accounts are perfect for those who want to use additional services without the risk of running out of credit. It’s also a great option for users who want to have multiple numbers on a single account and receive a combined bill each month.

One thing to keep in mind with going Postpaid is that you can potentially incur excess charges if you exceed your plan’s inclusions or if you use a lot of additional services. While going Prepaid allows you to stay in complete control of your monthly spend.

What payment option is best for me?

It really depends on your personal needs since each option has its individual strengths.

If you’re someone who wants to stay in complete control of your monthly spend and only pay for your plan and the services you’ve decided to recharge or add, then Prepaid will be the best option for you.
