HOW DO I BLOCK MY SIM IF MY DEVICE IS LOST OR STOLEN?

If your mobile device becomes lost or has been stolen contact us on Live Chat (or via email if out of hours) and we’ll block the SIM card so that it’s unable to be used.

If your mobile device becomes lost or has been stolen, follow the steps below to try and recover your device.

  • The first thing is to try contacting your number using an alternate phone to see if someone responds and to ensure the device is dialing correctly.
  • If your device includes a Device Locator such as Find my iPhone try and locate your device using these tools.

If you’re unable to recover your phone, contact us on Live Chat (or via email if out of hours) and we’ll block the SIM card immediately so that it’s unable to be used.

To block your cellular device from being used by another SIM card, you’ll need to supply us with your devices I.M.E.I number.

I.M.E.I block requests can take up to 24 hours to be processed and once complete, it’ll apply the block to call carriers in Australia. If you recover your phone at a later date you can request to have the I.M.E.I unblocked.

If you use your device for services such as mobile banking, email and social media, it’s important to update any required username/passwords using a computer or alternate mobile device to protect your personal data.

If you’re unable to recover your phone, we’d recommend contacting your local police station to file a police report for your lost/stolen cellular device - you’ll need to provide your phone’s I.M.E.I number in order to file the report.

If you recover your lost or stolen phone, contact us on Live Chat (or via email if out of hours) and we’ll remove the block on your SIM card. If you've purchased a new phone, you can keep your existing amaysim mobile number by ordering a replacement SIM.
