90% of Australian homes and business will be NBN-ready by the end of 2025, with over 9 million already connected.
How do I know if I have NBN?
The National Broadband Network connects over 12 million Australian homes and businesses to the internet, so chances are your home already has access. If you’ve ever wondered “Can I get NBN to my house?” the answer is likely yes!
Check your NBN eligibility
Can I get access to amaysim NBN? Check your eligibility by typing your address into our address checker. It will instantly tell you:
- Whether your property is connected to the NBN
- Which type of NBN technology is used at your location
Types of NBN connections offered by amaysim
Here’s a quick guide to the most common NBN Connection types you’ll see:
- FTTP (Fibre to the Premises): A fibre-optic cable directly to your home, from the nearest NBN Node. This is the fastest connection.
- FTTC (Fibre to the Curb): A mix of Fibre to the street, then copper to your home.
- FTTN (Fibre to the Node): Fibre to the nearest node, then copper to your home. This is the slowest common connection, and available speeds will be limited.
Other connection types are used in specific buildings and geographical areas:
- FTTB (Fibre to the Building): For multi-dwelling buildings, fibre-optic cables run to the building then copper wiring takes the connection into each apartment.
- HFC (Hybrid Fibre Coaxial): Using pre-existing Pay TV coaxial cables.
You should choose a plan based on your speed you need (for example, a high-level gamer or video-streamer will need a faster speed than someone using the internet to check emails or do light web-browsing).
Choosing the right NBN plan
Before you start using your NBN connection, you need to sign up to a plan from an internet service provider (like amaysim). Each provider will offer a range of different speed plans, at different price points, which affects how fast you can upload and download.
At amaysim, we keep things simple with six plans:
- NBN25 (25/8Mbps)
- NBN50 (50/18Mbps)
- NBN100 (100/18 Mbps)
- NBN 500 (500/43 Mbps)
- NBN750 (680/43 Mbps)
- NBN1000 (800/80 Mbps)
Typical busy period speeds are noted above.
All amaysim plans also offer unlimited data (subject to our Fair Go Policy), monthly renewals, and 30-day satisfaction guarantee.
Please refer to our NBN Network Speeds page and key facts sheet to help you determine which plan is right for your needs.
