Switching providers should be easy. In most cases you’ll just follow the steps outlined above.
How to Switch NBN Providers
Switching NBN providers is simple if you follow the right steps. This guide will help you change NBN providers quickly and easily (Need a refresher on all things NBN? Check our ‘What is NBN’ page and your eligibility, guide).
Step 1: Review and Choose
Check your Current Plan
Look at the speed, cost and contract length of your current NBN plan. If you’re locked into a contract, there may be an early exit fee. If you’re keen to compare your plan with the internet speeds you’ve been getting on a day-to-day basis, read more at our NBN Network Speeds page.
Find a New Plan and Provider
Consider your household’s current internet needs and how many people will be online at the same time. Are you looking for faster speeds, unlimited data, a no lock-in contract, or a satisfaction guarantee? Take the time to compare plans and providers before making your decision.
At amaysim, we keep it simple with six NBN plans: NBN25 (25/8 Mbps typical busy period speeds), NBN50 (50/18 Mbps), NBN100 (100/18 Mbps), 500 (500/43 Mbps), NBN750 (680/43 Mbps) and NBN1000(800/80 Mbps). Every plan comes with unlimited data (subject to our Fair Go Policy), monthly renewals, and a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.
Check your Tech: Use our NBN address checker to see if your home is eligible for an upgrade (e.g., from copper to fibre). Then, check our compatibility guide to make sure your modem works with amaysim NBN.
Step 2: Make the Switch
Start your New Plan
Put your order through on your chosen date, but keep in mind if you need an NBN appointment, it’s always better to do this in advance.
Cancelling your Old Plan
Once your new plan is active, we will contact your previous provider to cancel your existing plan, however it’s always best to call and confirm your billing with them has ended
How Long will the Switch Take?
Most customers are connected to the NBN within 15 to 30 minutes. It may take longer if you have to set up a new modem/router, if your existing NBN equipment is not connected properly, or if NBN is resolving any technical issues. If you are upgrading your connection from copper to fibre, that may take another 2 – 4 weeks. Rest assured, our customer support team is always available to help.
