Number Link: What it is and how to get connected
Some days, your phone is the last thing you want in your pocket. A run. A swim session. An afternoon at the beach.
Number Link is amaysim's smartwatch connectivity feature, and it means you can leave your phone behind and still use select mobile plan inclusions.
Number Link connects a compatible smartwatch to your eligible amaysim mobile plan, so your watch can make and take calls, send and receive messages (while your phone is on and connected to the network or Wi-Fi), and use data on the 4G network – tracking workouts, streaming tunes or making contactless payments. Your watch, your number. Whether your phone is with you or not. Check 4G coverage here.
What is Number Link?
Number Link works by giving your compatible smartwatch its own eSIM – a digital SIM built into the device. That eSIM connects to your amaysim plan, which means your watch and phone share the same number and draw from the same call, text and data inclusions.
When your phone is nearby, your watch and phone can work in sync. When your phone isn't, your watch can keep you connected using Number Link. You can learn more about how eSIM technology works in our eSIM explainer.
Which plans include Number Link?
Number Link is included at no extra cost on amaysim’s $40 and above 28-day mobile SIM plans. The three eligible plans are:
There's no additional monthly fee; Number Link is part of these three plans. Smartwatch connectivity of this kind is typically a paid add-on with other providers. With one of these plans, it's included. You can check it’s active anytime in your amaysim app – just look for ‘Your Smart Watch’ on your SIM plan dashboard.
All three plans are 28-day plans, no lock-in contract, and you can change plans whenever you like. Just keep in mind that if you move to an ineligible plan, you’ll lose Number Link.
What devices work with Number Link?
Phone compatibility
Number Link works with Apple iPhone 6 or later with iOS 11 or later, and Samsung Galaxy phones running Android version 5.0 or later and RAM 1.5GB or over. Your phone also needs to have Voice over LTE (VoLTE) enabled.
Watch compatibility
Your smartwatch needs to be a GPS + Cellular model. GPS-only watches won't work with Number Link.
Compatible watches include Apple Watch Series 3 or later, Apple Watch SE (1st generation or later), and Apple Watch Ultra (1st generation or later). On the Samsung side: Galaxy Watch (original or later), Galaxy Active 2 or later, and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic or later.
The full compatibility list is on the Number Link page.
Need a compatible watch?
If you're shopping for a watch to use with Number Link, amaysim sells Apple Watch and Samsung Galaxy Watch models directly, so you can sort your plan and your watch in one place.
How to set up Number Link

A few things worth knowing before you connect
Number Link is brilliant, but a smartwatch isn't a phone, and it's worth understanding some of the differences before you set up.
- Number Link operates on 4G only. Your watch won't access 5G, regardless of which plan you're on.
- Call quality on your watch may not match your phone and can drop out in some areas.
- SMS requires your phone to be on and connected to the mobile network or Wi-Fi.
- MMS, international roaming and voicemail are not supported on Number Link.
- Contactless payments require a compatible payment app on your watch.
- Only one smartwatch can be connected to your plan at a time.
- Your watch can't be used as a hotspot.
- Emergency location services are not enabled on Number Link. If you're out of range of your phone, GPS location may not be shared with emergency services.
