HOW TO CALL MALAYSIA FROM AUSTRALIA

When calling a phone number, the country code of +60 needs to be entered, followed by the area code in Malaysia and a local (or mobile) number in order to complete the call.

e.g - To dial the number in Malaysia (03) 4044 1241 from an Australian mobile, you’d dial: +60 3 4044 1241

If calling from a landline, replace the + sign with 0011 followed by 60 (country code of Malaysia) and then the Malaysia area code and local number.

Understanding international dialling codes can be quite tricky. You need the country code, the area code. It also helps to have a plan with unlimited international calls. Even knowing when to remove a zero or add a + sign to the number can be a damn-right headache!

Thankfully, we’ve rounded up everything you’ll need to know about calling Malaysia from Australia. So read on and get typing, the world is only a phone call away!

  1. Enter the + on your dial pad.* This is usually done by holding down the 0 key
  2. Enter the country code for Malaysia (60)
  3. Enter the area code in Malaysia you want to dial
  4. Finally, enter the local number of your family or friend

* Your phone automatically converts the "+" into the correct international exit code (depending on what country the phone is being used). This allows callers to use the same stored number no matter what county they are in.
