What it takes to make it in social media
25 Nov 2013
Here at amaysim HQ, winning some industry recognition now and then is a nice way to help measure how we’re doing.
That’s why we’re stoked to let you know that we were nominated for two awards at the 2016 CommsCon Awards held in Sydney last night.
First in the Best Influencer Strategy category for our ‘Less hassle, more Hoff’ campaign, developed together with our friends at Special Group and Hausmann. And also for our very own Min Kumar (who you may know best as amaysim’s Content and Community Chick) who was nominated for Social Media Community Manager of the Year!
Billed as ‘Australia's premier awards for the communications, public relations and social media industries,’ CommsCon is kind of a big deal as a benchmark, so we’ve given ourselves the green light for a little humble brag.
Hoff the scale and yet so hassle-free
You’ve probably seen a good amount of David Hoff (formerly Hasselhoff) love around these parts in recent months, so we won’t go into a ton of detail about the amazing man today. But it’s not just customers who have loved our work with Hoff– our “Less hassle, more Hoff” campaign was listed as one of Mumbrella’s best ads of 2015!
Need a Hoff refresher? Check out all our videos with the legend himself.
Feeling social?
Ever wondered who at amaysim is in charge of posting funny pictures of cats, Facebook quizzes, and weird and wonderful mobile tips and factoids?
Well, wonder no more! Min’s our fearless social media maven - when she’s not busy checking out what’s trending on social or dreaming up fab prize giveaways for you guys, she’s chatting it up with our community members on Facebook and Twitter, and even roving the streets with her camera in tow, ready to interview Sydneysiders on all things tech- or telco-related.
She also works closely with Liam, our fantastic customer service guy, and the social team (the folk who are ready to lend a helping hand on Facebook and Twitter), to help, empower and entertain our amaysim community.
It’s clear Min’s got a pretty sweet gig.
OMG so how do I get a job in social media?
Here’s what you should know about Min, and how she came to be our social superstar. This might be especially useful if you’re considering a career in the social media wing of marketing.
While working towards her Communications degree, Min kicked off her career in 2008 creating video blogs for her own YouTube channel (we’d post it here, but we’re sure she’d never speak to us again). After that she worked with Apple, dabbled with a few publishing companies, became a digital producer again, and then landed squarely on her feet as our Content and Community Manager. Thank goodness for that!
So well done Min, we’re super proud of you. You guys can consider Min your online buddy – you know, the one that’s always there to like your comment when no one else has.
Here’s to even more big-wins for the hard-working gang at amaysim!
Until next time,
Ged – amaysim’s PR guy.
