Three reasons why you need the new Huawei P20 Pro

27 Apr 2018

You may be forgiven thinking the best phone cameras in the market are the Apple iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Google Pixel 2, but there's another contender throwing its weight around in Huawei's latest flagship device; the Huawei P20 Pro.

Huawei created waves within the mobile phone community being touted as an alternative to the major players in the market with its P10 and Mate 10 line up. Huawei has now flexed its muscles again with the introduction of the P20 andP20 Pro.

With the P20 Pro being the more feature packed of Huawei’s new flagship duo, here are three reasons why you should consider the Huawei P20 Pro as your next phone.

good things come in threes

With dual-lens setups becoming the norm with leading mobile phones, Huawei has stepped it up adding an extra lens to make a three lens setup. This includes (from top lens to bottom) an 8MP telephone lens with f/2.4 aperture, a huge 40MP RGB sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 20MP monochrome with f/1.6 aperture. To top it off Huawei has continued its partnership with Leica to help fine tune the optics to get fantastic looking photos, which is also true for the dual-lens setup on the Huawei P20.

But we all know that megapickles (megapixels) mean nothing without the proper imaging processing to match and with the help of its new Neural Processing Unit (NPU) these units bring some new exciting new features including :

  • An incredible night mode feature: seemingly being able to bring dim photos to life
  • Its own slow-mo video feature at 960fps at 720p: nipping at the heels of Samsung and Sony
  • Up to 5x Hybrid Zoom: utilising the 3 lens setup on the P20 Pro; and
  • An enhanced AI assistant for photography: that can recognise objects from the sky, food to your loveable puppy and automatically change the camera settings to get the right shot.
more juice

It’s rare when a new smartphone is released that it has enough juice to have it last even a day of moderate use. The massive 4000mAh battery (that’s 500mAh more than the Samsung Galaxy S9+) packed into the Huawei P20 Pro should be enough to get you through an average day’s use with plenty left over to get you through a night out.

dat colour

We've saved one of the most exciting features for last, as what's really been catching peoples attention is the new Twilight colour option that mimics a sort of multi-tone effect, going from a moody blue, to a solid purple. It definitely adds to the stunning design aspect of the phone and is something to differentiate it from all the rectangular block designs.

Till next time!
