Each address in the country is mapped by the nbn™ to determine the technology used to service your address and the way your home connects will depend on your location.

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)

Your home will be connected using Fibre to the premises (FTTP) technology.

A standard installation includes a technician connecting the fibre optic cable from your street to an nbn™ utility box installed on the outside of your premises. A fibre optic cable from the utility box is then connected to an nbn™ connection box installed inside your home. See what equipment will be installed in your home.

amaysim will notify you of an installation appointment within two days of signing up so that an nbn™ technician can visit your home to complete the required work. Once the installation is complete, we’ll activate your service within 2 business days, you'll then be able to connect your modem and begin using amaysim nbn.

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP)

Your home will be connected using Fibre to the premises (FTTP) technology, which is where a fibre optic cable runs from your street to an nbn™ utility box installed on the outside of your premises. A fibre optic cable from the utility box is then connected to an nbn™ connection box installed inside your home.

Your address already has the required equipment required to connect to amaysim, which means your amaysim nbn service can usually be activated within 2-5 business days of signing up. You'll then be able to connect your modem and begin using amaysim nbn.

Fixed Wireless

Your home will be connected using Fixed Wireless technology which is where data is sent wirelessly from a transmission tower to an antenna fitted to your roof.

This includes a technician mounting an outdoor antenna on the roof of your premises, they’ll also drill a small hole through your wall and feed the cable from the antenna into an nbn™ connection box that’s installed inside your home. See what equipment will be installed in your home.

amaysim will notify you of an installation appointment within two days of signing up so that an nbn technician can visit your home to complete the required work. Once the installation is complete, we’ll activate your service within 2 business days, you'll then be able to connect your modem and begin using amaysim nbn.

Fixed Wireless

Your home will be connected using Fixed Wireless technology which is is where data is sent wirelessly from a transmission tower to an antenna fitted to your roof.

Your address already has the required equipment required to connect to amaysim, which means your amaysim nbn service can usually be activated within 2-5 business days of signing up. You'll then be able to connect your modem and begin using amaysim nbn

Fibre to the Node (FTTN)

Your home will be connected using Fibre to the Node (FTTN) technology which is where a fibre line is run to a newly built cabinet (referred to as a node) in a nearby street which is then connected to a wall socket in your home using existing copper wiring.

An nbn™ technician will need to connect the existing copper wiring to the node in your street. amaysim will notify you of an installation appointment within two days of signing up so that an nbn™ technician can visit your home to complete the required work. No equipment will be installed inside your home.

Once the installation is complete, we’ll activate your service within 2 business days, you'll then be able to connect your modem and begin using amaysim nbn.

Fibre to the Node (FTTN) / Fibre to the Basement (FTTB)

Your home will be connected using Fibre to the Node (FTTN) technology which is where a fibre line is run to a newly built cabinet (referred to as a node) in a nearby street which is then connected to a wall socket in your home using existing copper wiring.

If you live in an apartment or similar building the fibre optic cable will lead to your building’s Main Distribution Frame (MDF). The MDF then connects to a wall socket in your unit via the building's internal cabling and this is known as Fibre to the Basement (FTTB).

An nbn™ technician will need to connect the existing copper wiring to the node in your street and amaysim will notify you of an installation appointment within two days of signing up so that an nbn technician can visit your home to complete the required work. No equipment will be installed inside your home.

Once the installation is complete, we’ll activate your service within 2 business days, you'll then be able to connect your modem and begin using amaysim nbn.
