How do you calculate estimated costs and savings?

When providing your estimated monthly costs and savings during the signup process, the estimated amounts are based on the house/business size you select and measured against annual energy consumption amounts for each electricity, gas and solar.

Note: Your actual monthly costs will be based on your actual energy usage, while your annual savings will depend on your actual cost and compliance.

Electricity Plans

Your estimated monthly costs are based on the house/business size you select during the signup process and measured against the below annual energy consumption amounts.

  • House Size (Minimal) - 2,800 kWh
  • House Size (Small) - 3,600 kWh
  • House Size (Medium) – 5,000 kWh
  • House Size (Large) – 6,800 kWh
  • Small Business - 20,000 kWh

The annual estimated savings is the calculated difference between the estimated monthly cost, extrapolated to a yearly cost, with and without the full pay-on-time discount of the recommended product applied. All prices shown are GST exclusive.

If you have indicated you own an electric vehicle an additional 4500kWh has been added to the total annual energy consumption figures set out above.

Your estimated monthly costs is based on the peak only tariff for the electricity distributor in your area based on your postcode (this can also be found on this Electricty Price Fact Sheet).

Solar Plans

Your estimated monthly costs are based on the house/business size you select during the signup process and are then adjusted for the solar usage based on your postcode and solar system.

This is then measured against the below annual energy consumption amounts.

  • House Size (Minimal) - 2,800 kWh
  • House Size (Small) - 3,600 kWh
  • House Size (Medium) – 5,000 kWh
  • House Size (Large) – 6,800 kWh
  • Small Business - 20,000 kWh

A peak only tariff configuration has been used in Queensland and NSW and a time-of-use tariff configuration has been applied in Victoria.

Net metering has been applied in Victoria and Queensland and gross metering for NSW.

If you have indicated you own an electric vehicle an additional 4500kWh has been added to the total annual energy consumption figures set out above.

Gas Plans

Your estimated monthly costs are based on the house/business size you select during the signup process and measured against the below annual energy consumption amounts.

  • House Size (Minimal) - 10,000 MJ
  • House Size (Small) - 20,000 MJ
  • House Size (Medium) – 35,000 MJ
  • House Size (Large) - 60,000 MJ
  • Small Business - 350,000 MJ

The peak and off-peak usage is calculated at a 76:24, 56:44 and 100:0 ratio for the Multinet, Ausnet Services (SP Ausnet) and Australian Gas Networks (Envestra) Victorian distribution zones respectively.

The rates used is the Tariff V tariff for the gas distributor in your area based on your postcode (this can also be found on this Gas Price Fact Sheets).

The annual estimated savings is the calculated difference between the estimated monthly cost, extrapolated to a yearly cost, with and without the full pay-on-time discount of the recommended product applied.
