Five tips to help you achieve your New Year’s resolution

It’s finally 2015 – the year Back to the Future Part II promised us we’d have hoverboards and surprisingly, a use for the fax machine again.

But beyond that the movie fairly accurately predicted that we’d be using tech more and more to make our lives easier. So why not embrace the future by using your phone to get the jump on tackling your New Year’s resolution? Whether you’re planning on slimming down or saving up, here’s how you can use your phone to achieve your 2015 resolution.

1. Apps for the reborn gym junkie: "I'm getting into shape in 2015!"

Following a mammoth month of eating, drinking and pure indulgence it’s no surprise that many of us dedicate the new year to fitness and a better overall approach to our health. Make good on your promise to yourself by making the most of the fitness apps available on your phone.

If you’ve got an iPhone or Samsung smartphone, start with Health for iOS or S Health before looking for other specialist apps to help keep you on track – there are a range of running apps on the market and don’t look past the calorie counters to help keep your cravings at bay. Here are a few good ones to check out:

2. The inspired saver: “I’m going to save more this year”

One of the easiest ways to help line your pockets with some extra cash is take a look at what you’re already spending to see where else you can save. If you’re up for an adventure in 2015 take advantage of all the places worldwide that offer free Wi-Fi and let your phone be your travelling companion – from the airport to McDonald’s, Starbucks and even you hotel, it’s easier to stay connected when you travel.
