UnCutGems Adam Sandler

Everything coming to Netflix Australia in January 2020

23 Dec 2019

Congrats , you officially made it through what can only be described as one wild decade.

If you’re lucky enough to have time off over the summer break, I’m sure you’ll be striving to find a healthy balance between catching up with loved ones, dabbling in wholesome outdoor activities, alongside a dose of doing absolutely nothing while lounging around the house.

Netflix tends to sprinkle in absolute gems to open the year and their January 2020 lineup delivers on this notion, with another huge month of original content set to arrive on Netflix Australia in January.

January highlights are headlined by the film Uncut Gems, which was recently released in the US market to critical acclaim.

Directed by the Safdie brothers and starring Adam Sandler, the film has led to a renaissance of Sandler’s career, with critics believing the film could very well score the actor an Oscar.

Set in 2012, the film sees Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler), a charismatic New York jewelry-store owner make a high-stakes bet that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime. In a precarious high-wire act, he must balance business, family and adversaries on all sides in pursuit of the ultimate win.

If you’ve seen the film Good Time (also directed by the Safdie brothers), you’ll be familiar with their unique ability to create incredible tension setting scenes, making Uncut Gems a must watch this January.

In terms of TV series, Next In Fashion, which stars Tan France of Queer Eye and fashion guru Alexa Chung will make its debut during the back part of January and will no doubt bring some funny moments to the table.

Two massive fan favourites are also set to make their debut on the streaming platform, with season 8 of the much-loved Suits and Season 6 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine to become available throughout the month of January.

Finally, there's no shortage of Hollywood bangers, with a deep lineup of films headlined by the original Jurassic Park trilogy, The Tom Holland led Spider-Man: Homecoming,Mamma Mia and The Bourne Identity.

Check out the complete list of new shows and movies below and get ready for another month of glorious summer streaming.
