After an amaysim nano SIM for your iPhone 5? We’re pulling out the scissors!

Update 14 January - We've now got factory-cut nano SIMs in stock. Got an iPhone 5 or iPad Mini and after a nano SIM? Just tick the 'I'd like a nano SIM' box when you order your SIM online. If you're already an amaysim customer and want to replace your current SIM with a nano SIM, you can order a nano SIM through My amaysim. We'll post a factory cut nano SIM straight to your door.

Update 6 December – we know a lot of people are keen to get their hands on factory-cut nano SIMS (so are we). Unfortunately we’re experiencing a delay at our supplier’s end so don’t have an ETA on when they’ll arrive. We’re hassling to get them ASAP and will let you know when we have a further update. We’re really sorry about the delay here and will be in touch when we have more info.

Update 24 September – it seems people are really keen to get their hands on an amaysim-cut nano SIM, so much so we’ve been inundated with requests! Because of this, there’ll be a bit of a delay in getting them to you. We should have them in the post a several business days after the order is placed, which is a little longer than our initial estimate of next business day. Also, normal postage is free, but any new orders that choose Express Post we’ll charge $5 for to cover admin (you’ll have the choice in My amaysim and we’ll prioritise Express Post orders). Thanks for patience!

Hey everyone, it’s Andy here (amaysim’s head of all things tech and operations).

We know there’s a lot of excitement around the whole iPhone 5 nano SIM hype at the moment. Hey, as an Apple fanboy myself I’m dead keen to get my hands on their latest bit of kit.

You’ll probably also be aware, if you’re one of the Aussies scoring the iPhone 5 soon, that we won’t be stocking nano SIMs for up to 10 weeks. Hey, we’ve been trying for months to get them earlier and really are sorry, but we’re just giving the news to you as we receive it (even if it’s not the sweetest news you’d like to read)

That said, there are a fair few websites offering instructions on how to cut your standard SIM into a nano SIM. I’ve tried it myself and … it worked!

Our offer to cut a nano SIM for you

So, if you’re a current amaysim customer, are getting your iPhone 5 soon and would like us to have a crack at it for you, we’re happy to cut an amaysim SIM into a nano SIM.

Simply log into My amaysim. Here you'll see an alert message at the top with a link to the nano SIM form.

Once that’s done we’ll customise a SIM and Express Post it to you with instructions on how to activate it (24/9 - see update at bottom of post). We’re hoping from Monday 24 September they’ll start arriving the next business day, but depending on interest it may be a little longer (although we know every hour counts!). Read the letter and follow the instructions to have your service moved over to the new nano SIM.

This offer is for existing customers only and, as we’re cutting a SIM and not supplying a factory-cut nano SIM, there’ll be no charge attached.

We know it’s not perfect, but we’re doing everything we can to provide a solution here. It’s one way we reckon we can go the extra mile (and get some arts n’ crafts lessons at the same time).

If you’d rather wait until we have stock of pre-ordered nano SIMs in (in November), just fill out our Nano SIM - Register your Interest form. We’ll then let you know when they’re in stock.

Cheers
Andy – IT and Ops head honcho
